Over the past few years there’s been somewhat of a cupcake revolution in the United States. From reality television shows to new bakeries popping up in communities across the country, it seems people are extremely enamored with this delicious form of dessert.
Utah County first witnessed the movement with the opening of The Sweet Tooth Fairy bakeries. With its keen sense of aesthetics and delicious merchandise, the chain has become very popular in Utah.
Two things impressed me about the store founder, Megan Faulkner Brown. For one, she is a bit of a social network savant, having learned the skill through her time as a staff member for Congressman Chris Cannon. Those skills proved highly beneficial for her cupcake business. The first Sweet Tooth Fairy shop in Provo was an immediate success from the moment it opened, primarily because of her success in advertising through social networking.
The other thing that impressed me was the philosophy behind the shops. Megan wanted to create an environment where families could create meaningful experiences together. Her shops provide a welcome diversion from our hectic lives and an escape for families who want to spend a moment together, apart from their daily worries and cares.
I’ve often enjoyed time with my daughters and wife in a Sweet Tooth Fairy shop, and I’m grateful for the effort they put into the goodies and the store’s atmosphere. I hope we all can find time and reasons to escape from the daily grind and find a sweet moment or two with the people we love!
